TREATMENT
Pectus Excavatum is a congenital deformity of the chest and sternum bone, more frequent in the anterior chest wall, such deformity is characterized by a depression of the sternum and ribs in front of the chest, responsible for psychosocial repercussions that prevent or hinder the social inclusion of its carriers. The degree of severity varies widely.
The anomaly is known among laypeople as "shoemaker's chest", "hollowed chest", "hollowed chest", among others.
The idea of applying suction to the chest wall to raise the sternum, was first described more than a century ago, the refinement of this method occurred in the last 20 years.
